The game room made Heath feel more like he was being treated as a child than any other place in the Institute. It might have just been the selection they had to choose from. A deck of cards was a safe choice and would hopefully keep him from attracting much more energetic company. Yet as he sat down and began shuffling them between his hands he was surprised to find that he couldn't remember how to play a single game. At a loss, he blamed it on his current state of mind.

The red-head sat back in his chair and began looking through the deck one card at a time, if only to have something to do with his hands. The kings, queens, and jacks blurred together despite suits as this did nothing to distract him from the pangs of his still somehow empty stomach.

The deck was eventually tossed to the floor in front of him, free for anyone who felt like a game of 52-card pick-up.

Heath swore under his breath and slouched where he sat. This whole ridiculous matter was more than wearing thin. He'd have to get the involvement of a nurse before dinner. There was nothing else for it. Still, more than one came close enough to stop and he did nothing. Something deep within him knew there wasn't anything any of them could do.

I'm really sorry to have to go on slow posting again, especially after I just got off it, but I've got another round of exams right now and they won't be over till Thursday. D: So...slow posting until then, but I'd be more than happy to backthread with people when I get back!

"Hm!" The Head Doctor gave a small, thoughtful exclamation just after the intercom jingle came on. "It's only afternoon and yet I'm already feeling a bit tired. I suppose it's because I had such a busy night last night. Some rare occurrences that caused a great deal of paperwork, I can assure you..."

He trailed off, as if realizing he'd let some of his Nighttime fun slip into his Daytime facade. He cleared his throat and continued.

"In any case, it only seems natural that such a well-behaved patient body should be rewarded by some very fun activities in the Game Room, doesn't it? Ha ha ha... Remember that today is a day that should be celebrated, not frowned upon, and those of you who are still struggling should be happy for your fellow patients instead of trying to dissuade their progress.

"But now I'm simply being unfair, aren't I? Yes, yes, we all have to go at our own paces, though I am sure some of you will soon be making your way out of the Institute and perhaps be making some more room for the very new batch of patients that has already begun to join us.

"In any case, I've rambled on for quite long enough, haven't I? Enjoy your fun and I'll be back to speak with you later!"

The intercom clicked off.

Ack, sorry about my disappearance! It's been a crazy sort of week, what with a visiting grandmother and birthday and some unexpected Vista-related woes, and I've been short on the net exposure the past few days, but I should be back and ready to roll again.

Due to medical reasons I don't want to discuss, I need to go on a hiatus of undetermined length. I should've put this up sooner, but I've really not even been near the computer all that often lately.

While I don't expect it to take too long for me to get past this, I have no idea when I'll be well enough to return.

I'm sorry, MGS cast, but I'm going to drop Snake. RL didn't do nice things to my RP drive and I've kind of fallen out of the game and I know I'll never be able to get back in.

It's awful because it's a wonderful game and I had a great time here, but I just don't think RPing is for me at this point in my life.

My computer seems to have died the death, and we're not sure why. :/ Therefore, indefinite hiatus for Edgeworth, Endrance, Euphemia, and Rika.

I'm sorry, guys. We have no idea what happened - it was fine last night and now it's not booting. :/ Will try and tag what I can, but...yes. Expect things to be few and far between till we figure out how to fix it.

Calling a brief hiatus for Spidey for fourth shift (which is tomorrow, I think? Unless the calender lies.) I'll still be around for any and all backthreads/FoC stuff and maybe a bulletin post or two, and I'll likely toss him back in for dinner shift. There's no loss of limb or will to live or anything, I just need to take a breeeeeeeaaaaaaaak.

All of my professors are rushing to get things done before Thanksgiving break (including a paper that is 40% of my grade in one class), so my brain is in the process of shutting down and I'm having a really hard time cranking out posts. I'll definitely be slow through the weekend, and I probably won't stop being slow until the end of next week, so please bear with me! I am very much up for continuing backthreads, etc., when my brain decides to start working again.
